9:10-10:00 Redefining Video for Multiple Screens - Room 219/220
Video and film used to have only two homes: the movie screen and the TV set. Now, video also lives on PCs, mobile phones, portable devices, game consoles and emerging platforms. How are content creators, broadcasters and operators dealing with consumers’ shrinking attention span? Do multiple screens represent new revenue opportunities – or will they cannibalize TV’s core revenue?

Clyde Smith, SVP Global Broadcast Technology and Standards, Turner Broadcasting System Inc.
Dmitry Shapiro, Founder and Chief Innovation Officer, Veoh Networks, Inc.
Mitch Weinraub, Executive Director - Products and Services, Comcast Media Center

Ian Locke, VP of Strategic Alliances, Envivio Inc

10:00-10:30 Keynote: Change - the Engine of Our Business - Room 219/220
The talk will briefly examine the changes taking place in the media industry, from a "video-in-the-home" business to "video-everywhere" business. It goes through the transformation within one broadcast company from its TV-centric past to its media-centric present. Along the way, threats and opportunities abound for all.

Sheau Ng, VP, Consumer and Broadcast Technology, NBC Universal

10:30 - 11:00 Keynote: Media Mobility - Room 219/220
Media Mobility provides the capabilities to create an environment where subscribers securely access their content from everywhere, through any networked device, as they move throughout their day. Consumers expect to access their media in more versatile ways while the trend for video consumption is a proven mass-market pastime with significant untapped potential. Service providers will need to assess if they have sufficient capacity and coverage, or whether they should affiliate with other operators to achieve continuous service over fixed, mobile, and broadband wireless domains.

Kevin S. Wirick, Vice President, Marketing IP Video Solutions, Home & Networks Mobility, Motorola, Inc.

11:00-11:30 Developments in the UK VOD market - Room 219/220
The UK market is at the forefront of broadband television and ioko, having delivered VOD platforms for Sky, Channel 4, ITV and the BBC, is uniquely positioned to comment on the latest developments. Sixty per cent of the UK's eleven million broadband users are now using these platforms. Most of the major players have MS/Intel P2P download services but several business models abound. This presentation will consider which business models are coming to the fore. Will P2P prevail? What is the future for open standards and traditional playout? Based on our extensive experience we will also consider how the market is playing out in the USA, referencing our work with some of our US customers.

Fearghal Kelly, Vice President, Media Solutions, ioko
Rex Wong, CEO, DaveTV

11:30-11:50 Networking Break and Product Showcase - Room 224

Breakouts

11:50 - 12:35 The Networks Take Charge, Sort Of - Room 225
NBC and Fox’s Hulu joint venture and others like it are part of broadcast and cable networks’ drive to wrench control of their assets from aggregators, dictate terms and take a larger percent of their shows’ profits. But how much control do the networks really have in an environment where most of their shows can already be viewed for free or hacked throughout the Web?

Troy, Platforms Executive, Multiplatform & Portfolio, BBC
Sanjay Desai, Vice President, Product Marketing, Brightcove
Moderator: Howard Greenfield, President, Go Associates

11:50 - 12:35 Video Search for Unlimited Channels - Room 219/220
It’s hard enough finding what you want on TV when your cable provider gives you a few hundred channels. The problem becomes infinitely worse in an IPTV world of unlimited channels – including community channels, video-on-demand, video from the web and family videos. The solution lies in a combination of user interface and search algorithms.

David Wolf, Senior Executive, Digital Transformation Lead, Accenture

1:50 - 2:40 The Billion Dollar Question: How Will Broadband Video Make Money? - Room 219/220
The popularity of digital video notwithstanding, the fact remains that business models for making money from broadband video on the Internet are sketchy at best. If the video must be free, are short ads at the beginning or end of video clips and banner ads really the best way to grab viewers? Are the networks maximizing revenues with the advertising on their websites? And are all networks ready to follow Fox’s example and share revenue with their affiliates from their Web and mobile content? Are the networks maximizing revenues with the advertising on their websites?

1:50 - 2:40 Digital Rights in a Cross-Platform World - Room 225
Operators and content owners are seeking to maximize the value of their businesses by repurposing programming across multiple platforms: TV, Internet, mobile, games, and so on. But the strategy could backfire if the strategy invites wholesale piracy. How can intellectual property be protected -- without "dumbing it down" by degrading the quality of video storage to prevent it from being copied?

2:40 - 3:20 Dispatch from the TV Wars - Room 219/220
As AT&T, Verizon and smaller IPTV and Internet TV services roll out their products to millions of TV viewers, how much market share are they gaining from incumbent cable, satellite and broadcast providers? Is the battle being fought on price, bundles, technology, service, or all of the above?

3:20 - 3:30 Featured Presentation: Starts with IP, ends with TV - It is still a Television service - Room 219/220
The concept of delivering video over existing IP networks has enthused the telecommunication world. They see new opportunities and an exponential boost to their dwindling revenues. However, they have their set of worries too - how to overcome challenges the IP media presents in delivering content.

Danny Wilson, President & CEO, Pixelmetrix

3:30 - 4:15 Resuscitating VOD - Room 219/220
Adult movies aside, video-on-demand has been hobbled by high prices, consumer indifference and lack of quality content. Studios have been reluctant to release their top films and their catalogs, fearing that VOD will hurt DVD sales and television rights. VOD on the Internet hasn’t even left the starting gates. How can VOD’s promise finally be realized?
